Evaluation table for materials

By a direct comparison between the three most used materials for baskets, the following table of advantages/disadvantages appears on an objective basis :

PP = Polypropylene. Recycling label (05).

PEHD = Polyethylene High Density. Recycling label (02).

PELD = Polyethylene Low Density. Recycling label (04).

Grading:

+ + = highly qualified

Note 1
PEHD can cause stress release by contact with ordinary brown soap.
Stress relief unfortunately means cracks or that the basket splits.

Note 2
PEHD is in constitutive form not suitable to UV-light.
Can have UV stabilizer added, but will then not be suitable for food contact to animals and human beings.

Note 3
When PEHD and PP split, sharp edges will appear which people can cut themselves on.
